C130 paratroop doors utilise a negator spring assembly to reduce the effort required to open each paratroop door for ease of operation. Various changes to the standard configuration of the paratroop doors, in particular the installation of ballistic protection, have resulted in paratroop doors being too heavy for aircrew to operate in flight.

AMCE has developed an upgrade to the standard negator spring assembly to compensate for increases in paratroop door weight of approximately 100 – 120 lb and restore the lifting effort required for the paratroop door back to that of the baseline aircraft configuration.

The upgraded negator spring assembly replaces the extant output drum, stowage drum and motor assemblies. Aircraft configuration is maintained in all other aspects. An upgrade kit, together with full installation instructions, is available as a Commercial-off-the-Shelf product. A publication amendment service is also available to incorporate any changes into the customer’s publication suite.
